Biographical Database of Militant Woman Suffragists, 1913-1920
A Crowdsourcing Experiment

This collaborative project provided a rare opportunity to engage women's history students in the research, interpretation, and writing of women's history for a broad public. Students received authorship credit for their work and made a contribution to the new research associated with the centennial celebration of the passage of Woman Suffrage in the United States.

Resources for volunteers writing biographical sketches

• SUFFRAGE PRISONERS as enumerated by Doris Stevens in JAILED FOR FREEDOM (1920) — looking for your activist in this list may provide biographical information about your person that is helpful in finding more information.
• Suffragist of the Month This link takes you to biographical sketches for suffragists posted on this site in 2014-2015. If you click on the History tab at the top of the page and then the Suffragist of the Month tab in the dropdown menu, you will find there are also Suffragists of the Month with lists of suffragists for 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. You may find your suffragist in one of these lists. Don't borrow the language of these sketches, but feel free to use them for research purposes.
